Artist Statement

Music and art have accompanied my life since early childhood.

As a concert pianist, professor of piano, and composer, I understand music as a universal language capable of connecting people beyond cultural, geographical, and generational boundaries. After decades of intensive engagement with the great masterpieces of the piano repertoire, the creation of large-scale orchestral works has become the central focus of my artistic journey.

As a composer, I seek a musical language that speaks directly to the emotions while possessing lasting artistic substance. I am not interested in immediate effects or fleeting impressions, but rather in the profound inner development of musical ideas and their transformation over time.

My works are founded on the conviction that music can be far more than entertainment: it can create spaces in which people experience hope, responsibility, compassion, and our shared humanity.

At the heart of my compositional work are universal themes: peace, human dignity, nature, and our responsibility toward our planet. I do not approach these subjects as political statements, but as deeply human questions that can be expressed through a contemporary symphonic language.

With AURORA – Symphony for Peace, I created a musical journey from darkness into light, from uncertainty toward hope.

The First Piano Concerto, Waterfall Concerto – Path to a New World, is dedicated to my fellow countryman Bruno Manser. It reflects the profound connection between humanity and nature and explores the piano not as an isolated instrument, but as an integral voice within a living orchestral ecosystem.

The Second Piano Concerto, One Humanity, continues this artistic path and seeks a musical language that unites people across cultural and geographical borders.

Throughout decades of musical exploration, the piano has remained at the heart of my artistic expression. I compose from the perspective of a performing musician, with an intimate understanding of sound, breathing, musical tension, and the expressive possibilities of the orchestra. For me, music does not emerge solely at the writing desk; it comes to life through a dynamic dialogue with musicians and performers.

My goal is to establish long-term artistic partnerships with orchestras, conductors, festivals, broadcasting institutions, and cultural organizations worldwide. At the same time, I hope that the universal language of music can create friendships among people from all parts of our planet and build bridges between cultures and generations.

I aim to create works that transcend their premieres and find a lasting place within the international concert repertoire. My music seeks to give voice to the human experience of our time, to reflect social and cultural developments, and to encourage dialogue, peace, hope, and understanding through the universal language of sound.

It is evident that music cannot change the world instantly. Nevertheless, it has the power to deeply touch people, foster understanding, build bridges, and inspire positive processes.

Through my music, I wish to contribute to a more conscious way of living together — a humanity that, despite its diversity, is sustained by respect, compassion, and mutual appreciation.

In an era in which artificial intelligence increasingly influences creative processes, I regard composition as a profoundly human act. My works do not emerge from algorithmic calculation, but from personal experience, decades of artistic practice, intuition, imagination, and responsibility.

I compose without artificial intelligence: for human beings — not for machines.

Human creativity continues to fascinate me.

For me, musical language represents a form of universal human communication. Every note is born from lived experience, memory, compassion, hope, inspiration, and from the mystery of the unknown — that which cannot be calculated or predicted.

Music is an expression of what moves us at the deepest level of our humanity: love, joy, vulnerability, the longing for non-violent peace, and the challenge of meeting one another with openness and compassion.

Therefore, my future music will continue to emerge from the immediate experience of life itself — authentic, human, and guided by the desire to touch hearts and preserve meaning across generations.

And, not least, shaped by the profound and urgent question of where we come from and where we are going. For me, I have discovered this: I come from God and return to God — an infinite encounter.

Especially in a time of profound global challenges, I see this as one of the essential responsibilities of art.

Künstler Statement

Musik und Kunst begleiten mein Leben seit frühester Kindheit.

Als Konzertpianist, Professor für Klavier und Komponist verstehe ich Musik als eine universelle Sprache, die Menschen über kulturelle und geografische Grenzen hinweg verbinden kann.

Nach jahrzehntelanger intensiver Auseinandersetzung mit den großen Werken der Klavierliteratur ist das Komponieren groß angelegter Orchesterwerke zum Mittelpunkt meines künstlerischen Schaffens geworden.

Als Komponist suche ich nach einer Musik, die emotional unmittelbar berührt und zugleich in ihrer Form Bestand hat. Mich interessiert nicht der schnelle Effekt, sondern die innere Entwicklung eines musikalischen Gedankens.

Meine Werke entstehen aus der Überzeugung, dass Musik mehr sein kann als Unterhaltung – sie kann Räume schaffen, in denen Menschen gemeinsam Hoffnung, Verantwortung und Menschlichkeit erfahren.

Im Mittelpunkt meines kompositorischen Schaffens stehen universelle Themen: Frieden, Menschenwürde, Natur und unsere Verantwortung gegenüber unserem Planeten. Diese Inhalte verstehe ich nicht als politische Botschaften, sondern als zutiefst menschliche Fragestellungen, die sich in einer zeitgenössischen sinfonischen Sprache ausdrücken.

Mit AURORA – Symphonie für den Frieden entstand eine musikalische Reise von Dunkelheit zu Licht, von Unsicherheit zu Hoffnung.

Das 1. Klavierkonzert, Waterfall Concerto – Path to a new world ist meinem Landsmann Bruno Manser gewidmet, reflektiert die enge Verbindung zwischen Mensch und Natur und versteht das Klavier als Teil eines lebendigen orchestralen Klangstroms.

Das 2. Klavierkonzert, One Humanity, führt diesen Weg fort und sucht nach einer musikalischen Sprache, die Menschen über kulturelle und geografische Grenzen hinweg verbindet.

Meine jahrzehntelange Tätigkeit als Pianist prägt jede Partitur. Ich komponiere aus der praktischen Erfahrung des Musizierens heraus – mit dem Wissen um Klang, Atmung, Spannung und die Möglichkeiten des Orchesters. Musik entsteht für mich nicht am Schreibtisch allein, sondern im lebendigen Austausch mit Musikerinnen und Musikern.

Mein Ziel ist es, langfristige künstlerische Partnerschaften mit Orchestern, Dirigentinnen und Dirigenten, Festivals, Rundfunkanstalten und Kulturinstitutionen aufzubauen.

Zugleich wünsche ich mir, durch die universelle Sprache der Musik Freundschaften mit Menschen aus allen Teilen unseres Planeten entstehen zu lassen und Brücken zwischen Kulturen und Generationen zu bauen.

Ich möchte Werke schaffen, die über ihre Uraufführung hinaus Bestand haben und einen festen Platz im internationalen Konzertleben finden. Sie sollen den Menschen unserer Zeit eine musikalische Stimme geben, gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen reflektieren und durch die universelle Sprache der Musik zu Dialog, Friede, Hoffnung und Verständigung animieren.

Es ist offensichtlich, dass Musik die Welt nicht augenblicklich verändern kann. Dennoch besitzt sie die Kraft, Menschen tief zu berühren, Verständnis zu schaffen, Brücken zwischen Menschen und Kulturen zu bauen und positive Entwicklungen anzustoßen.

Mit meiner Musik möchte ich einen Beitrag zu einem bewussteren Miteinander leisten – zu einer Menschheit, die trotz ihrer Vielfalt von Respekt, Empathie und gegenseitiger Wertschätzung getragen wird.

In unserer Zeit, in der künstliche Intelligenz zunehmend kreative Prozesse beeinflusst, sehe ich das Komponieren als einen zutiefst menschlichen Akt.

Meine Werke entstehen nicht aus algorithmischer Berechnung, sondern aus persönlicher Erfahrung, jahrzehntelanger künstlerischer Praxis, Intuition und Verantwortung.

Ich komponiere ohne KI: Für Menschen – nicht für Maschinen!

Menschliche Kreativität fasziniert mich. Besonders Musiksprache als universelle, menschliche Kommunikation.

Jede Note entsteht aus gelebter Erfahrung, aus Erinnerung, Mitgefühl, Hoffnung und Inspiration – und aus jenem Rätsel, das ich noch nicht kenne.

Musik ist Ausdruck dessen, was uns im Innersten antreibt: Liebe, Freude, Verletzlichkeit, die Sehnsucht nach gewaltlosem Frieden und die Herausforderung, einander mit Offenheit und Mitgefühl als Menschen zu begegnen.

Deshalb wird auch meine zukünftige Musik aus dem unmittelbaren Erleben des Lebens entstehen – authentisch und von dem Wunsch getragen, Herzen zu erreichen und über Generationen hinweg Bedeutung zu bewahren.

Und nicht zuletzt geprägt von der existenziellen Frage nach dem Ursprung und der Bestimmung des Menschen – nach dem Woher und Wohin unseres Seins.

Für mich habe ich herausgefunden: Ich komme aus Gott und kehre zu Gott zurück – eine unendliche Begegnung.

Gerade in einer Zeit großer gesellschaftlicher Herausforderungen sehe ich darin eine wesentliche Aufgabe der Kunst.
